Minis are also available in a white casing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese LEDs are chainable, meaning you can connect the output of one to the input of the next (see the datasheet for pinouts and wiring diagrams). They use a single data line with a timing-sensitive protocol, so they must be driven by a real-time microcontroller such as an AVR, Arduino, PIC, or mbed. They cannot be used with Linux-based microcomputers or interpreted microcontrollers like the Netduino or Basic Stamp. Internally they’re essentially a WS2811, fixed at the 800kHz high-speed setting. Adafruit’s Arduino NeoPixel library supports these LEDs, but because it relies on hand-tuned assembly it’s AVR-focused — other platforms may have ports available.
